With a dramatic win Patha Chakra made their way into the semi-final of the 37th Sikkim Governor's Goal Cup.
There were few chances in the opening quarter of the match, including a long range attempt from Eric Brown in the 8th minute forcing a great save from the Army Custodian. Soon after in the the Army Defence made an unbelievable goal line save when Budi Ram Tudu perfectly placed Eric's through Ball.
In the 20th minute Victor Kamukha of Patha Chakra who played his first match in the tournament made a rough challenge inside the 18 yards box & the Army side took the lead from the penalty Kick. Thereafter it was only the Purple side who had the lion's share of attacking play throughout the first half. Victor put some extra effort to redeem himself following his early mistake, as he made a great run in the 30th minute & passed through 3 opponent defender before taking an long range effort which missed the second post by inches.
Patha Chakra Skipper Eric Brown equalized the with a brilliant left footed free kick, leaving the opponent keeper looking helpless.
Patha Chakra opened the second half vibrantly as the purple brigade flocked into the Army territory consistently and it was Victor Kamukha who doubled the lead for the Kolkata side. The Purple side seemed to be unstoppable as the match went on. Patha Chakra took the lead to 4-1 with two goals in quick succession around the hour mark.
However, some silly defensive errors allowed the Army side bridge the gap to 4-3 with two goals in closing period of the match.
Confirming a semi final berth Patha Chakra has now moved a step closer to the title in their first participation in the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup.
The Purple side will take on Kolkata Customs in the Semi-final of the tournament on 14/10/2017 at Paljor Stadium.
